No Apologies Round Two

The Evilution of "christianity"

I saw the latest sign that Christianity is indeed the Church of Liodicia:

Barna Survey Examines Changes in Worldview Among Christians over the Past 13 Years .

I'll let you go look at the latest poll results on your own if you wish. Here, I just want to throw in my own two cents- or actually, the Bible's.

First off, pollster George Barna just released another survey :among America's professing "born-again" Christians, only 19% hold a Biblical worldview. For those of you, who are a little mathematically challenged like myself, this means that approximately 80% of those who claim to be christian do not have a Biblical worldview.

It's not like the questions in Barna's survey were deep theological thought provoking ideas which only a person holding a Doctorate in Theology and Religion can understand. For instance, Barna's questions for determining a person's Biblical worldview were the following: Believing that absolute moral truth exists; Believing that the Bible is totally accurate in all of the principles it teaches; Believing that Satan is considered to be a real being or force, not merely symbolic; Believing that a person cannot earn their way into Heaven by trying to be good or do good works; Believing that God is the all-knowing, all-powerful creator of the world who still rules the universe today. In the research, anyone who held all of those beliefs was said to have a Biblical worldview. And again, even among professing "born-again"Christians, only 19% were shown to have a Biblical worldview. In the world of feel good, live your best life now, ear tickling, non offensive, social gospel churches which are so prevalent in society, this really doesn't surprise me. In fact, again, the Bible warns, Jesus warns that in the last days there would be many deceivers coming in His name. The hearts of many will grow cold, and I am making the statement here and now, that many pastors in our society today are misleading millions of people. They are blind, leading the blind, and they will all be shocked and surprised some day when they stand before the Lord and find out that Jesus never knew them.

Here's the lowdown on the survey, along with the Biblical plum line to see just how far off the foundation (Christ) the church has fallen:

One-third of all adults (34%) believe that moral truth is absolute and unaffected by the circumstances. Slightly less than half of the born again adults (46%) believe in absolute moral truth.

Psalm 25:5
guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.

Psalm 31:5
Into your hands I commit my spirit; redeem me, O LORD, the God of truth.

John 13:20
I tell you the truth, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me."

John 14:6
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

For more on Jesus and the Truth-
go here.

Half of all adults firmly believe that the Bible is accurate in all the principles it teaches. That proportion includes the four-fifths of born again adults (79%) who concur.

Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness

John 7:38
Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him."

1 Timothy 4:13
Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching.

Just one-quarter of adults (27%) are convinced that Satan is a real force. Even a minority of born again adults (40%) adopt that perspective.

Matthew 4:10
Jesus said to him, "Away from me, Satan! For it is written: 'Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only."

Mark 1:13
and he (Jesus) was in the desert forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him.

For more of Jesus' words on Satan, go here. One more thing. If many people agree that they believe in angels, why would they not believe in Satan? After all, he is a fallen angel. It is because if one believes in Satan, one must believe in evil and sin as well.

Similarly, only one-quarter of adults (28%) believe that it is impossible for someone to earn their way into Heaven through good behavior. Not quite half of all born again Christians (47%) strongly reject the notion of earning salvation through their deeds.

Hebrews 2:10
In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the author of their salvation perfect through suffering.

Acts 4:12
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

Romans 1:16
I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.

Ephesians 1:13
And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,

Philippians 2:13
for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.

Romans 8:28
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Romans 1:17

For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."

Romans 3:10
As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one;

Romans 3:22-26
This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

There is no Scriptural basis on works plus faith. Jesus Paid our debt in FULL. We can never do enough on our own, no matter how many good deeds, to get to heaven. It is through faith ALONE in Christ Jesus which is our Salvation. The good we do after being born in the Spirit is the fruits of the Spirit- not by ourselves. We can do good things! But they are in vain without the simple faith in Christ for our salvation!

A minority of American adults (40%) are persuaded that Jesus Christ lived a sinless life while He was on earth. Slightly less than two-thirds of the born again segment (62%) strongly believes that He was sinless.

Luke 23:40-42
But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said, "since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong."
Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom."

John 1
The Word Became Flesh

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God

Since Jesus is God in the Flesh- Jesus can not lie or sin! God can not lie or sin! There are dozens of passages in Scripture which show Jesus- God the Son. A sacrifice in the Old Testament for sins had to be perfect and unblemished. Jesus as the Lamb of God, to take on the sins of the world, as the Ultimate sacrifice- had to be perfect and without blemish. Jesus- is God, therefore, He is PERFECT.

Seven out of ten adults (70%) say that God is the all-powerful, all-knowing creator of the universe who still rules it today. That includes the 93% of born again adults who hold that conviction.

God is Present Everywhere:
Psalm 139:8
If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.

Matthew 18:20
For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."

God is Eternal:
Deuteronomy 33:27 a
The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.

Revelation 1:17-18
When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.

God is All Powerful
Psalm 139:6
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.

Psalm 145:3
Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.

Matthew 28:18
Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

Colossians 2:10
and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority.

So there you have it. With regards to most questions, there are still quite a few who believe in the Word, who have a Biblical belief in Jesus. There are still quite a few Christians however, who don't. Why is this important?

Because, again, it seems that a majority of evangelical churches are bent only on the politically correct doctrines of Prosperity Theology and Entertainment and feel good, seeker sensitive Evangelism. So called Old-fashioned Bible Christianity has been replaced with movements such as the Emerging Church, Purpose Driven Church, Seeker-Sensitive Church, User-Friendly Church,Meta-Church and anything else under the sun. It's important because this Biblically illiterate christian movement is useless at being the "salt" and "light" that our Lord requires. These modern "born-again"evangelicals are walking around with Christless worldviews. They call themselves Christian, but haven't got a clue on what it means to be a follower of Christ. Instead of the Bible, socialist politicians, leftist "evangelicals" such as the Red Letter Christians, and Sojourners, globalist media , entertainers, and humanistic educators are the ones who continue to influence the world with non Biblical concepts that Biblically illiterate "Christians" fall for as the "Gospel truth".

When you're blind, it's awfully hard to see the Truth and not follow after deceivers who claim the title "Christian".

If you are a Christian- which one are you? Are you a follower of Jesus Christ- the Son of God, God in the Flesh- Perfect Word, Holy and Righteous?
Or are you blinded by politically corrected redemption"less" social gospel, empty of the Cross and Resurrection?

If you are not a Bible believing Christian, please dig out your Bible, and look up the references for yourselves. See who Christ is. See what His Whole Word says. Invite Him to your heart and Listen to His Word.

If you are not a believer, I invite you as well, to read the Bible for yourselves- and ask the Lord to reveal Himself to you through His Word. For More information, you can go here. In the archives there are simple answers to Who Jesus is, and How to trust in teh Bible. Find your redemption in Christ. He will Change your Life!

Great post, Carolyn!
I am getting burn out from the constant negative news/ BS from TV, but it does reinforce all the bible prophesies coming true right before our eyes today. I don't know if I have enough energy left to fight the corrupt world system of Satan--politically. I may have to settle for serving God now and getting all my affairs in order.

Your friend,
Tom

A wonderful post! I think I will print it for Jimmy, the man Rob and I have been working with. The scriptural references are great. We have used much of the same. Our topic today was perfect sacrifice. The study is as good for us as we hope it is for him. Blessings and love, Penny
