However, it is not the government's job (any government- not just the US) to do for the people. It is the church's responsibility.
I am one of those- that is, my family would be in the poor catagory, although we have so much more than many people in the world. I do not look to the government for things that we ought to be able to work for on our own or find help within our church community. I know I can depend on Christian brothers and sisters when struck by natural disasters such as hurricanes, which we have had our share, and economic downturns which we are effected greatly right now.
My references to the Pope was not meant to be disprespectful, just thoughtfull in that although we are to help and care, it is not any "world governing powers" to do it.. as we are seeing, the governments are part of the problem. As for speaking about the environment, again, we are to be good stewards of what the Lord has given us. While I agree there are certain things that each of us could do to cut back on pollution, it is a personal responsibility- not a world government one. The Bible does not mention the end days happening because of global warming or climate change. The times are coming for the Lord to call His Bride, and to judge the nations-
We are to pray for His Kingdom come as it is in Heaven, not for our will to be done to make the world a utopia.Carolynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06778221847847541523noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4866800496413894728.post-12737473803930418132009-07-30T13:19:40.576-04:002009-07-30T13:19:40.576-04:00Good post, and I agree to some extent. However, my opinion to the Pope's economic stance is different to yours.

Christian teachings are not meant to be saved for heaven alone. There is a need to care for those who are suffering from economic pitfalls. Bible teaching tells us to care for the hungry, the sick, the poor. If this requires an overhaul of the economic system, so be it. You talk about the Pope as sounding like Obama and sounding like Al Gore, but please try to remove American politics from the situation. Also, remove the pope from the situation. It is ethically, morally, and biblically irresponsible to let the hungry, sick, and poor suffer while others profit through their exploitation. Remember, even though you may not think the hungry, sick, or poor deserve it, the teachings of Christ tell us to care for all human beings.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00039452082044157135noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4866800496413894728.post-71872710299971344682009-07-29T23:39:06.150-04:002009-07-29T23:39:06.150-04:00Hi Carolyn,

How true. There is also so much outright heresy out there now, a lot coming from major ministries some of whom we've been watching and listening to for years.

The deception in the last days is certainly growing in these last days.

Dirk
THE FIRST AMENDMENT, NOT POLITICALLY CORRECT II
http://tsalagiman2.blogspot.com/Dirkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04794945973074374935noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4866800496413894728.post-80948841385213849362009-07-16T00:27:31.551-04:002009-07-16T00:27:31.551-04:00This topic has been burning in my heart for many m...This topic has been burning in my heart for many months now. The church of today is either dead or in a complete coma. It's time a few voices like ours ressurected her again. Your examples are perfect. We have churches endorsing the book, THE SHACK and 'Christian' parents allowing TWILIGHT books as reading material.
I call them Christian lite. They aren't sold out and have too much of the world and it's darkness in it.
Great informative article as always. You've been on my intercession prayer subject with this one.MammawsDecorativeArthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15279370563753657154noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4866800496413894728.post-36617410674394777392009-07-12T22:43:11.638-04:002009-07-12T22:43:11.638-04:00Great post, Carolyn!

"The Treasure Principle" ~by Randy Alcorn says as much, so I am reading now. The world and it's material things and ideas belong to Satan the Devil! We have to wonder what god most of the clergy serve...
